Egon Oelkers‚s name spells expertise and knowledge (the perfume cognoscenti will recognize him as one of the authors of the legendary H&R Fragrance Guide). So when we heard that Oelkers created a woody-oriental fragrance for biehl parfumkunstwerke, we knew that it would be extraordinary. Eo1 contrasts spicy woods with sweet citruses and soft flowers in a blend that is beautifully structured, elegant and luxurious. The opulent juiciness of the top notes (oh how we love the mouthwatering sweet-n-spicy pairing of apricot and cardamom!) gives way to the delicately powdery, child-like softness of iris‚ÄThat gentleness is deceiving, however, as the iris is soon joined by sizzling pimento and fiery cinnamon. And then cedarwood appears in all its warm, balsamic glory. Enriched by patchouli and vanilla, the woody note in eo1 is truly to die for.
