A subtle and elegant floral that is as dry as brut champagne -– airy and crystalline and not the least bit sugary. Opening with a strikingly crisp blend of tangerine, grapefruit, basil and pepper, this moves into a waltz of citrus, flowers and wood. Tender rose and delicate jasmine seem on the verge of floating skyward, but they are balanced and anchored with warm cedar and vetiver. Esprit de fleurs is an intriguing mix of ethereal and earthy and we are reminded of legends of angels visiting the cellars where cognac is aged and sampling the wares - the portion that evaporates is traditionally known as the “angels share”. We imagine that their softly rustling wings would smell something like this - a light dusting of fresh rose petals mingling with the deep wooden scent of the barrels. Utterly divine.
